SIZING - INSTALLATION - TUTORIAL VIDEOS

SIZING YOUR BUTTON POST

If you know the brand of your gear head, you can go to the ​ Tuning Roller size chart, find your brand  on the left side of the chart to find the proper order code. If you're not sure about the brand of your gear head, please follow the instructions below

MEASURING INFORMATION
 (please read and understand all instructions before proceeding)

1) If planning to install tuning rollers on a stringed instrument,

detune instrument to remove all tension from the machine head.

2) Using a small screw driver (use proper screwdriver head + or -),
c arefully remove existing button screw.

3) Gently pull button from button post while being careful NOT TO
remove any  existing plastic and/or metal washers.

4) Measure flats on the button post with a caliper, or similar device/tool
used to measure small increments, to determine size of roller needed. If you do not
are not able to access a proper measuring tool, you can order our measuring key
​from the order form page.

5) CHECK POST MEASUREMENTS AGAINST OUR SIZING CHART BEFORE ORDERING.

1) If installing tuning rollers with the strings still on the instrument, detune the instrument to remove all tension from the machine head.

2) Using a small screw driver ( use proper screwdriver head + or - ) carefully remove existing button screw.

3) Gently pull button from button post while being careful NOT TO remove any existing plastic and/or metal washers.

4) Line up the flats on button post with flats inside roller. DO NOT FORCE! HOLD BUTTON POST END WHILE PUSHING ROLLER ONTO BUTTON POST. MAKE SURE PARTS ARE PROPERLY ALIGNED
BEFORE APPLYING ANY PRESSURE!!

5) While using a finger or thumb to secure the gear mechanism, return screw and tighten.

6) Roller shouldn’t feel loose. Roller should be snug and smooth in both directions.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!! TUNE UP AND ENJOY!!


(Tuning rollers are designed to fit on most existing machine heads or tuning gears or straps that have a removable button screw. Some buttons may require a longer screw (i.e. Sperzels™). Alternate screws and/or washers that may be necessary for a correct installation not included)
